Dear Daddy,
How could it be that you left us in such a tragic way? Born in a little village in St.Ann 65 years ago, you endured so many hardships and overcame so many obstacles - you were invincible. Our hero. Jenny adored you-you too are so much alike - stubborn and hardworking. Georgina-she's your baby. she would give anything to hear the squeak of your pick up truck trundling up the road on a Friday night. You know how she misses you bringing her that fried chicken. Alex - he doesn't say much, he just lost his other grandpa too. He misses you in more ways than I think any of us will ever know.Saffron - you are always at the tip of her tongue. "Mommy,do you remember when Grandpa..." "Grandapa made me such and such", "Grandpa made me this an' that". She misses you too. And Ian - God knows why He sent him to meet you all the way out in Jamaica in 2007. He really loves Georgina so much. They're getting married you know! Yes - your little baby is all grown up!
Not enough time has passed since June 08.Yet the months are slipping by unnoticed, time sweeping the days quietly one into another. Natures way of healing? I don't know... Oh -those conch shells you sent back to England with Georgie and Ian - they're so amazing. Georgie, Saff & i have replicas in miniaiture on silver necklaces every day to remind us of you and to let the world we will never forget "St George". Remember what you wrote in mine? "Have courage for the great sorrows in life and patience for the little ones..." It was as if you knew the day you would no longer be with us was coming all too soon.
Dear Daddy,God knows - we really, really miss you. Rest in peace - you and Gilly together xxx
Love from me, Jenny and your likkle Georgina-Mae. all family and friends xxx
Special Angel Day - by Sam & Gordon Winson
We do not need a special day
To bring you to our minds.
The days we do not think of you
Are very hard to find.
Each morning when we awake
We know that you are gone.
And no one knows the heartache
As we try to carry on.
Our hearts still ache with sadness
And secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know.
Our thoughts are always with you,
Your place no one can fill.
In life we loved you dearly;
In death we love you still.
There will always be a heartache,
And often a silent tear.
But always a precious memory
Of the days when you were here.
If tears would make a staircase,
And heartaches make a lane,
We'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you home again.
We hold you close within our hearts;
And there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives
Until we meet again.
Our family chain is broken now,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
I PROMISE I WILL HEAR…..
Don't think of me as dead and gone
Please understand I have just moved on
God took my hand
When you thought I had died
And led me over to the other side.
There's a better life
Than the one we know
And to it one day we all must go
No more pain, hardship,
Or times of misery
Instead there's all our loved ones
As happy as can be.
You may not see me for a little while
Hear me laugh or see me smile
But I promise you with all my heart
From the ones I love I will never part.
I will always be with you,
However far you walk
I will always listen,
When you feel you need to talk
So when you are saddened
Or driven to despair
Take comfort from the knowledge
That I am always there.
One day soon I will share with you
The happiness I have found
And you will see life doesn't end
Six feet beneath the ground
Forget about graveside visits
And fresh flowers every day
A yearly verse in the papers
Is surely not the way
When there is something you want to say
Or you wish that I was near
Just talk to me like you always did
I promise I will hear.

Happy Fathers Day Daddy
Requiem Friday June 27 2008
a quiet moment of sadness
lost amidst clanging tracks and steel
this sadness finds it's voice in the silence of our tears
these tears
falling like soft daggers
pierce through this grief
open wounds of despair
but sadness lost
finds its way to peace
acceptance
silent tears echo
then fade
into laughter
and each scar we bear on our soul
tells us that only through pain comes healing
thicker skin
for when next
the
soft
daggers
fall
